Latin American Poker Tour (LAPT)
The Latin American Poker Tour or LAPT was launched in May of 2008, and it was brought to life by the same online casino that brought us the European Poker tour (EPT) and the Asian Poker Tour (APT), which is the PokerStars. The Start of the Latin American Poker Tour

As stated above, the LAPT was launched last May 2008 in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil for a three-day period wherein Humerto Brenes was among the participants. Brenes is a renowned professional poker player who lives in San Jose, Costa Rica, the place where the second leg of the tour took place for another three days. Finally, the very first LAPT finished up its poker series tournament in Uruguay, which was held in the Punta del Este Resort, a famous elegant vacation destination found on the southern tip of the country.
The buy-in was $2,500 for the three legs of the poker tour plus $200 for both Costa Rica and Uruguay, and the total prize pool for the three countries were $785,000, $965,150, and $851.175 respectively.
The participants included pro poker players from Team PokerStars as well as international pro poker players like Humberto Brenes of Costa Rica as well as Andre Akkari from Brazil, and many more. The total number of entrants amounted to thousands, proof that the first LAPT was a huge success.
