California Casinos Face Lawsuit

In poker news today it has been announced that five California Casinos have been named in a lawsuit which is due to the bad beat poker jackpots being offered in California. The plaintiffs in the case have named five casinos in the Los Angeles area who don’t allow poker players to compete for the bad beat jackpot unless they’re playing on a table which takes a $1 from every pot to contribute to the jackpot.

Most of you poker players who are familiar with Poker Stars probably already know that the Spring Championship of Online Poker (SCOOP) has been underway since the beginning of April. The main event of the SCOOP started yesterday and will finish today as it’s a two day event.

Just shy of 2000 players (1,928 to be precise) day 1c of the main event is the largest field so far. Andy Griggs, the Country star began proceedings with a world-debut performance of ʻItʼs All About the Moneyʼ which was enjoyed by all. Next of course came the ʻShuffle Up and Deal,ʼ this time the honour being bestowed upon the Tournament Directory Jack Effel.
Day 1B of Main event kicks off

The second of the main event groups at the WSOP kicked off on Day 4th July (incidentally also the Day of American Independence). Proceedings were kicked off by the Country and Western Singer Andy Griggs singing the National Anthem followed by Jerry Yang announcing the immortal ʻShuffle Up and Dealʼ, a great honour to have been bestowed upon him as reigning champion.
WSOP Main Event Begins

The 55 events that make up the World Series of Poker have all but drawn to a close. That is of course all but the grand finale- The $10,000 no limit holdʼem event, more generally known as the main event. This is generally the event that players want to win as it is traditionally known as the World Championship event and has the largest field.
WSOP Nearing an End

Thatʼs right, this yearʼs WSOP has nearly sadly nearly finished. Event number 53 the $1500 No Limit Holdʼem has been won by Matt Graham who has had an incredible run this year at the WSOP and had already finished deep in the money in two events before he even sat down for this tournament.

Alexandre Gomes wins Event 48

Event number 48 has been won by Brazilian player Alexandre Gomes. The event was the $2000 No Limit Holdʼem, and as it is a popular event there was a starting field of 2,317. By no means was this going to be easy!
Martin Klaser winner of WSOP Event 43

Martin Klaser has just been crowned the winner of the event number 43, the $1500 Pot- Limit Omaha Hi/Low and received his very first World Series of Poker bracelet. He was by no means the favourite to win as he faced stiff competition from the like of Erik Seidel and was certainly not one of the chip leaders as the players entered the final stages, however he managed to outlast the 719 other players to claim his prize.

Poker Pros Tee Off!

Poker plays do have an inclination towards golf so there was no shortage of pros wanting to take part. Event number 18, the no limit 2-7 draw lowball with re-buys $5000 was eventually was won by the Mike ʻMouthʼ Matusow who put up an extraordinary fight against heads up opponent Jeffrey ʻThe Icemanʼ Lisandro.

Duncan Bell winner of WSOP Event 13: $2,500 No Limit Holdʼem

Event number 13 has just come to and end at the World Series of Poker. Winning the event was an absolute dream come true for poker pro Duncan ʻPumperʼ Bell from Vancouver in Canada. He was delighted to overcome the 1,395 strong field and take away just over $666,000 and of course the gold bracelet.
