FTOPS Main Event
(May 19)
The Full Tilt Online Poker Series VIII main event was played out at the weekend. The
event was $500 buy-in No Limit Hold'em and the eventual victor was Keith Lehr (aka
'Cheesemonster' on Full Tilt and 'delegator' on PokerStars.) There was a grueling field of
4,750 entrants and players were competing for a massive prize pool of $2,375,000 which
well exceeded the original $2 million guarantee.
There were 642 paid out places in the tournament, and plenty of Full Tilt sponsored
players made it into this position including Huck Seed, Andy Bloch and Martin Klaeser who
made it the furthest but eventually was defeated in 62nd place. Phil Ivey just missed out
on the money by going out in 649th position.
Lehr walked away with over $410,000 after defeating ?MarMoss' who was compensated
with a handsome $249,375. There were no opportunities for deal making between the final
two as Full Tilt does not officiate this, so it was a nerve wracking time for the pair as they
battled it out for the full amount. Congratulations to ?Cheesemonster' for his incredible win.
