Can a Pro ever win the World Series of Poker again?

Who would have expected the dramatic growth that poker has seen in the last few years? Generally it is the aptly named Chris Moneymaker and his victory in 2003 that is heralded as the cause for the dramatic rise in popularity. People saw an amateur outlast a field of 839 players and walk away with over $3 million.
Now the field of players is more like 10 times that amount and the first prize has swelled to over $10 million.
Previously to Moneymaker’s dramatic win, it was generally pros who won the bracelets. The sheer volume of players has made this now less and less likely, particularly when combined with the volatility of a week long poker tournament.
The pros are not giving up hope though and many still have their eyes and hearts still set on winning ‘The Big One.’ A pro has not in fact won the main event for 7 years however so we will simply have to just wait and see!
