Day 1C of WSOP Main event takes flight
July 7, 2008
Just shy of 2000 players (1,928 to be precise) day 1c of the main event is the largest field
so far. Andy Griggs, the Country star began proceedings with a world-debut performance
of ʻItʼs All About the Moneyʼ which was enjoyed by all. Next of course came the ʻShuffle Up
and Deal,ʼ this time the honour being bestowed upon the Tournament Directory Jack Effel.
Hanning Granstad of Norway finished the day with the largest chip stack, in fact it was the
biggest out of even the previous days leaders and was the first player to break the
200,000 chip mark. He ended the day in good spirits needing some much needed rest
before continuing. Former WSOP champions Brad Daugherty, Jim Bechtel, Chris
Moneymaker, Joe Hachem, and Huck Seed all chose 1c as their day to start the
tournament and there was a host of bracelet winners from the preceding events that
began too. Unfortunately for Shawn Buchanan his set of 7s was beaten by a set of Jacks
and he crashed out in one of the first hands. Despite this he has still had a tremendous run
at this years tournament with 4 cashes and one final table appearance. Huck Seed was
out early too closely followed by Chris Miranda.
