Pros take the lead at the WSOP

Now that we are down to the final table, and all the other 55 events have been completed,
itʼs time to take an overall look at the WSOP this year. A record breaker in many respects,
it had the record number of entrants, it had a record-breaking prize pool, a record number
of countries were represented. Overall it was a roaring success.
What is so fantastic about the world series of poker is that amateurs are able to enter and
they often to very well. This year is no exception and the final table of the main event are
all amateurs themselves. The slight difference this year however is that the pros picked up
quite a larger number more bracelets than the amateurs. In previous years it has been the
amateurs that have stomped all over the pros. This may certainly have something to do
with the legislation that has been imposed on gambling in the States that has blanketed
poker. There are now fewer newcomers to the game and participation is dropping.
It will certainly be interesting to see whether this trend continues in the next few years. For
now though we wait with baited breath to see what happens at the final table in November.
