Ladies International Poker Series
August 6, 2008
The Ladies International Poker Series event has just taken place and was won by the
talented Barbara Enright. Over 100 women entered into the event, and ........one man!
Due to the non-discrimination laws within the State of California, the organisers of the
event are legally not allowed to refuse male entrants. Enter John Vorhaus dressed in drag!
Vorhaus is a well known writer and poker journalist, and his 7th place win demonstrates
heʼs certainly no amateur when it comes to the game. The founders of the event Lupe
Soto and Kell OʼHara gave their blessing to the intrepid journalist however and enjoyed
having him take part. At least he made the effort to look the part!
The tournament had a buy-in of $340, and Enright took away $11,000 for her first place
finish. Not a bad return on investment which not only pushes her total tournament winnings
to over $1.3 million but also ads another ladies-only title to her impressive collection which
includes a 5th place finish at the 1995 WSOP. The event was hailed as a great success
and no doubt that Enright will be back next year to defend her title.
