PPA to host a charity event
August 18, 2008
The Poker Players Alliance (PPA) will be holding a charity poker tournament at Coors Field
in Denver, Colorado. The event will be taking place during the Democratic Convention that
runs from 25th August to 28th August. Registration is $500 and the winner will receive
entry into the 2009 World Series of Poker.
Ben Affleck will be playing, as will Andy Bloch and Barry Greenstein. The proceeds of the
charity event will go to the Paralyzed Veterans of America, a very worthy cause indeed.
There will be a reception beforehand at 9.30pm and then play kicks off at 10pm on 26th
August.
The chairman of the PPA Alfonse DʼAmato who is a former Democratic senator from New
York says, “PPA is honored to host this charity poker tournament and looks forward to
raising a lot of money for these American heroes. This is a great opportunity to harness the
popularity of the game in order to raise much-needed funds for those who have fought to
protect our country and our individual freedoms — paralyzed vets.”
