Borgota Open gets off to a flying start
September 10th, 2008
The Borgata Open is in its 6th season and has just kicked off to a record breaking start.
A record number of players registered for the tournament, 1,192 to be precise. With event
one having a buy-in of $300, the prize pool was pushed to $357,600 and ensured that the
winner of the event scooped $77,170.
So who did win the event? Daniel Apicella was successful this time, and managed to
outlast the tough field. Apicella was also successful at the 2007 Borgata Summer Open
where he took down the $1000 No Limit Holdʼem event taking home $107,360. The
second event was won by Michael Dolan from New York and the Ladies $300 No Limit
Hold ʻem event was won by Esther Fdorkevich from Tennessee.
Players are excited about the upcoming $5 million guaranteed World Poker Tour main
event that will begin in just a few days time. As always, we will keep you posted on all the
action from the tournament.
