World Championship of Online Poker Event 1

The PokerStars World Championship of Online Poker began recently, with the first event, the $215 buy-in 6 handed event attracted 7,217 players. The prize pool was pushed to over $1.4 million. The winner of the first event was shane147 who took away a WCOOP bracelet and $212,179. Runner up at this event was pffwhatever who pocketed $148,670. The final table consisted of players from the UK, Austria, France the US as well the The Netherlands. Canadian, Greek and Swedish players just missed out on the final table, so it was a truly international affair.

The second event has been and gone already, and it was a 6-handed Pot Limit Five Card Draw tournament with the same $215 buy-in. Fewer players registered for this event but nonetheless a prize pool of $204,800 was generated.

This is the seventh year that the PokerStars have run this tournament as its popularity keeps growing and growing. The highest-stakes tournaments that have been included in the schedule are $10,300 High-Roller No Limit Holdʼem event and an additional $10,300 buy-in event.
