Happy birthday for Joao Barbosa in EPT Warszaw

Joao Barbosa celebrated a few times on Wednesday in Warsaw. Not only celebrated this mainly online cash game player his 26th birthday, but he also celebrated the win in the EPT tour leg in Warsaw.
After "famous" pro players like Roland de Wolfe and Isabelle Mercier where eliminated it fell to seasoned pro Dario Minieri and Arnaud Mattern to keep the hopes of the pro players alive.
It was however Barbosa who celebrated after a long final table (with an even longer dinner break) Dario Mineri lasted longest of the two left over pros as he finished in third place, but Nice Behling from Germany and Joao Barbosa where left to battle it out heads-up.
Joao outlasted his opponent and won the first prize of almost $500.000 which left Nico Behling with "just" over $250.000.
Joao is the first ever winner of a major European Poker Tour event from Portugal, but it proves ones more that the poker scene in the Iberian region is growing more and more and produces top class players.
There is a lot of extra merit in Joao's run as he played in 4 EPT events and cashed now in 3 of them. Even the most seasoned players and pros will have to admit that this is a serious player who could well become a factor in the European poker scene.
Nico Behling meanwhile proved that poker in Germany can count on rising stars as well after playing a good, but versatile game. This suited him however and don’t be surprised to see him soon again in an EPT final somewhere in Europe.
