376 players came back to fight for another day of glory in the Doyle Brunson 5 Diamond classic here in the Bellagio in Las Vegas. Not only did the temperature rise to a comfortable 9c ( I thought it would always be nice and warm in the desert) but the poker action was fast and furious as well.
We saw an early demise for some pro players who hardly had their backsides seated. Jennifer Tilly, Phil Ivey and Daniel Negreanu all left with some of the players not even fully seated yet.
John “ the Razor” Pham could not cement his place at the top of the player of the year table either as he bode farewell to his fans pretty soon after the other players left the room.
Clonie Gowen was seated one seat away from her former boss Howard Lederer and well… they did not exchange that many words all day. Not surprisingly after her $40 million claim against FullTilt Poker. She would not be stopped however and is now clearly in the top 10 overall.
Other top players that said goodbye before the day was over where: Justin “ZeeJustin” Bonomo, Chad Brown, Todd Brunson, David Chiu, Freddy Deeb, Kathy Liebert, Erick Lindgren, Carlos Mortensen, Men Nguyen, David Singer, Jennifer Harman, Chau Giang and Dave „Devilfish“ Ulliot.
