Everest Poker climbing high

GigaMedia, the parent group of Everest Poker has announced the figures for 2008 and it seems that there is no mountain high enough for Everst Poker not to climb.
The turn over in 2008 went up to $190 million which is an increase of over 25% and the profit was a massive $44 million for 2008.
The stock markets felt the news coming as the shares went up 14% over 2008 as well.
Over the last quarter of 2008 a massive 44.000 new players registered with one of Europe’s biggest rooms and the total amount of player is now well over 184.000.
One of the main contributors to the rise in players will be the sponsorship of the World Series Of Poker (WSOP) and the fact that the felts at the tables at the WSOP are proudly showing the name of Everest Poker.
Arthur Wang the CEO of GigaMedia is looking to the future and a few things might happen in the next few years as Everest Poker is looking to go into partnership with other companies to give an exclusive poker feel or to set up their own “skin” or network so that the poker room would be completely special for Everest players.
There have been rumors about a possible sale of EverestPoker and its been a long time since a really big merger has taken place in the poker world. Since it has become vital for poker rooms to establish large fields in tournaments and a big pool of players for a cash game the $200 million that the company is valued at, might be a good thing for rumoured partners/buyers like 888 / PartyGaming and Bwin.
