The World Poker Tour World Championship took place this week with the final table finishing up last night. The event was held at the Bellagio in Las Vegas and had a total of 338 players competing for a piece of the $8,172,250 prize pool. Many of the world’s best players entered the tournament this week and quite a few of them made it deep although only one notable pro poker player finished in the top ten.
The tournament was a week long and had a structure that allowed players to play some poker. A lot of tournaments don’t give you enough chips to play with and often it’s about luck once the blinds go up. In this event the players started the tournament with 100K in chips and blinds starting at 50-100 and going up every 90 minutes.
There were many notable pro poker players who did well in this event including Scotty Nguyen who finished in sixth place ($285,985), Jennifer Harman who finished in eleventh place ($81,710), Freddy Deeb who finished in twelfth place (81,710), Chris Ferguson who finished in twenty-eighth place ($49,025) and Phil Ivey who finished in thirty-fourth place ($40,855).
The top five players aren’t very well known by most poker players, but most of them are very young and have shown that they have the talent to compete with the best players in the world.
