2009 WSOP Event #2 $40K NLHE Day Two

As we talked about earlier one of the most anticipated first week World Series of Poker events is the $40K No Limit Holdem tournament which started the other day. Yesterday we talked about how the players did on day one and today we’re going to take a look how day two ended up. The day started with over 80 players and by the end of the day the tournament was done to 23 players.
The 23 players will be back in the poker room today so that they can complete the event and crown the second bracelet winner of the 2009 World Series of Poker. Every player has already won a little over $70K for their efforts in the event, but with the $40K buy-in that isn’t much profit yet for some of the players left in this event. Some of the notable players still in the event and pushing for the victory are as followed.
Ted Forrest – 2,586,000 Chips
Andrew Robl – 112,000 Chips
Brian Townsend – 671,000 Chips
Tony G – 481,000 Chips
Andy Black – 210,000 Chips
The above players are the biggest names left in the event and although some of them are short stacked it’s still anyone’s tournament as there is plenty of play left. Players who almost made day three, but fell just short consist of JC Tran, David Pham and Jennifer Rousso. Jennifer has been playing some amazing poker over the past few months and I can’t wait to see her play in more WSOP events at the Rio this month. She has been placing in the money in almost every event she has played in recently.
All of the big name stars we talked about yesterday who were in the event like Ivey, Hellmuth and Brunson have all been knocked out of the tournament now. With event #3 underway and more to begin soon we’re definitely knee deep in poker news right now.
