Andrew Cohen Wins 1st 2009 WSOP Bracelet

The first event at the 2009 World Series of Poker finished yesterday which means that we’re underway in this record setting year. With 57 WSOP bracelets up for grabs this year there will be plenty of action to talk about over the next month. The opening event at the World Series of Poker is the $500 Casino Employees Event which this year had 866 players compete.
After a two day event it’s finally over and the first 2009 World Series of Poker bracelet was awarded to the winner Andrew Cohen. To start the second day there were 81 players left in the event and Andrew was near the top of the leaderboard the entire event. Andrew played heads-up against Paul Peterson, but Cohen already had such a big chip lead that Paul really didn’t stand a chance at making a comeback in the tournament unless a miracle took place.

The second day took almost twelve hours to complete, but it was definitely worth the wait for the winner Andrew Cohen who had a nice payday off of his $500 investment. The second event this year is one of the big events which is the $40K No Limit Holdem Event. The first day of this event took place yesterday with 201 players hitting the tables. This event is one of the premiere WSOP events for the best players in the world and this event definitely had its share of poker pros. We will talk more about this event tomorrow after the remaining 89 players get back to action.
