Tom Dwan vs. Gus Hansen

Last night we were able to watch Tom Dwan and Gus Hansen play against each other on the Full Tilt Poker tables. The two poker players sat down at a $500/$1000 table and began battling each other out with some big money on the line. Tom Dwan ended up winning just about $1 million off of Hansen last night at the table, but it was a lot to do with some lucky draws that Dwan hit.
If it wasn’t for the draws and suck outs that hit for Tom last night I don’t think that he would have won nearly as much money off of Hansen. The one thing that seemed to trouble Gus was the fact that he loves to bet big. Tom wasn’t afraid to make the big calls and most of the time he was behind in the hand, but managed to suck out and win the hand.
Tom is still down this year in online poker at Full Tilt, but this has helped him make some of the money back that he had lost. Tom has also been playing in his competition with Patrick Antonius, but that hasn’t been going as well for Dwan as he is down half a million so far. Things might start changing a bit for Tom in the challenge, but I don’t really see him being able to beat Patrick. Patrick is a very smart poker player and doesn’t take very many risks unless they are very calculated risks. I think Patrick should be able to hold the lead from here until the end of the challenge.
In other news on the same note it’s been told that Phil Ivey had issued a challenge to Luke Schwartz at the Monte Carlo High Stakes Championships which will be the same type of challenge that Dwan and Antonius are playing right now. The challenge is to play 50K hands, but there hasn’t been any mention of how much the bet is for. Luke is supposed to deposit to Full Tilt today so it looks like the challenge may have been accepted.
