Brandon Cantu Triumphs In Event #48 $1.5K PLO Hi/Lo At 2009 WSOP

Many of you probably remember Brandon Cantu from previous tournaments as he is definitely not a newcomer to the poker world. Cantu is one of the most experienced Omaha poker players for his age and he has already proven this to the poker world with some incredible finishes. He added to this list of accomplishments the other day when he took home a WSOP bracelet in the $1.5K PLO Hi/Lo Event which was the 48th event of this year’s WSOP.
There were 762 poker players who participated in this event including the ever so popular Mr. Hellmuth. The event lasted a long time and the final table took over 8 hours to play out which was extremely long considering the blind levels. Brandon held the chip lead for most of the early stages of the final table, but then he lost the lead eventually after some bad hands. By the time he made it to heads-up action he was down 5:1 in chips to Lee Watkinson. Lee is a very experienced poker player, but it wasn’t meant to be for him in this event. Cantu hit some incredible hands and ended up catching up and eventually beating Watkinson for the bracelet.
Phil Hellmuth almost made the final table in this event as he finished in 14th place, but it was definitely a good sign for Phil and he should be prepared for the Main Event.
