Brock Parker Wins His First Ever WSOP Bracelet in the $2.5K Limit Holdem Event

The fourteenth event in the World Series of Poker this year was the $2.5K Limit Holdem Event which was played six handed instead of nine handed. The event brought some great poker players to the felt and one of them actually made it really deep into the tournament which was a pleasant surprise. There were 367 players who took part in the event which helped bring the first place prize too almost $225K.
The winner of the event was Brock Parker who managed to make a surprising comeback to win his first ever WSOP bracelet. Brock is an amateur poker player and this was his biggest tournament win ever which I’m sure was an even bigger surprise for him then us. When the heads-up battle started Brock was up against poker pro Daniel Negreanu who is one of the best poker players in the world.
Daniel had the chip lead when the heads-up battle started which is why most people assumed he would win another bracelet, but it wasn’t meant too be. Brock made an awesome comeback in the tournament and ended up beating Daniel Negreanu after a lengthy heads-up battle. Not many people were sure how Brock would manage heads-up because he typically only plays online poker which isn’t the same as playing live in front of a crowd, but it didn’t seem to bother Parker at all.
The following six players made the final table in the short handed fourteenth event at the 2009 WSOP.

There were several other notable finishes in the tournament including Barry Greenstein who finished in 30th place and took home a little over $5K. With the main event getting closer to beginning I can’t wait to see how the players do as it seems some of the best players in the world are beginning to heat up.
