J.C. Tran Earns Second Career WSOP Bracelet in $2.5K Pot Limit Omaha Event
June 17, 2009
The 2009 World Series of Poker has been great so far and there have been some excellent performances by some of the world’s elite players. With over half the events complete this year the clock is already winding down before this year’s WSOP will be over and down with apart from the Main Event final table. The 30th event at this year’s WSOP was the $2.5K Pot Limit Omaha event which had a star studded line-up of poker players.
J.C. Tran moved into the poker spotlight last year at the WSOP when he won his first career bracelet in a $1.5K NL Holdem event and now he has shown he wasn’t just a one hit wonder. J.C. outlasted 435 other players in this event in order to capture his second career WSOP bracelet. He has now won a bracelet in NLHE and PLO which are the two most popular poker games played currently.
The event took three days for the players to complete and the third day was set-up only for the final table which had its share of talent and poker stars. It took only about an hour for the final table to be slimmed down to 7 players as two players were knocked out quickly. One of the players knocked out early in the event was John Juanda who finished in ninth place. Juanda has been playing some excellent poker this year and I feel he has really worked on improving his game lately.
Tran has already finished in the money once this year and he will be looking to make an impact on the Main Event I’m sure as it’s getting closer and closer to kicking off. The players who made the final table in this event were as followed from first place to last place.
1. JC Tran – $235,685
2. Jeff Kimber – $145,656
3. Jean-Philippe Leandri - $95,837
4. Ross Boatman - $66,936
5. Dallas Flowers - $49,387
6. Rami Boukai - $38,407
7. Chad Layne - $31,427
8. Theo Jorgensen - $26,955
9. John Juanda - $24,207
