Thang Luu Wins WSOP Bracelet in $1.5K Omaha Hi/Lo

Event #3 at the 2009 World Series of Poker was the $1.5K Omaha Hi/Lo Eights or Better and there were a total of 918 players that took part in the event. Over the course of three days the event went from 918 poker players to only the champion of the event. It was a tournament which will be remembered for a long time due to the fact the winner of the event Thang Luu has already won this same event and it was last year.
It’s very difficult to win one WSOP bracelet in your lifetime, but Thang Luu has managed to win back-to-back bracelets in the same event. Last year Luu played in the $1.5K Omaha Hi/Lo event and won so nobody I’m sure was expecting him to defend his title. Luu is a very experienced Omaha poker player who definitely played a great tournament this past week.
After day one of the event Thang was leading the tournament and made it to the final table rather easily. Once on the final table Luu picked his spots wisely and once he got it down to three way action he started dominating the other two remaining players and won the bracelet. Some of the notable poker players who took part in this event were Mike Matusow, Erick Lindgren, Gavin Smith, Daniel Negreanu, Eli Elezra and Ivan Demidov. The most notable player who made the final table was Freddy Deeb although he was knocked out in eighth place.
