2009 World Series of Poker Main Event Day 1A Updates

There was a great mixture of professional poker players and amateur poker players on day 1a, which ensured a lot of great action. The first day actually had more action then most players would typically expect to see and many players hit the rails early in the day. You don’t often see a lot of players being eliminated in the first day of the Main Event, but this year had quite a few knockouts.

Some of the most notable players who were knocked out of the Main Event in day 1a include Freddy Deeb, Pieter de Korver, Andy Bloch, Allen Cunningham and Isaac Haxton. There were also several other eliminations on day 1a. There were roughly 20 poker players who made it over the 100K chip mark on day 1a including Lee Redmond who is the chip leader thus far with 134K chips. All of the current chip leaders after day 1a are unknown amateur players, but I’m sure this will change in a few days once day two begins.

Some of the notable players who had a very nice start to the first day in the Main Event consist of Eli Elezra who has 83K chips, Andy Black who has 56K chips and Phil Laak who has 53K chips. It was a great opening day to what is going to be one of the best WSOP Main Events in history.
