Bertrand Grospellier Leads WSOP Main Event after Day 3

Day 3 of the World Series of Poker Main Event is complete and after a long day which featured a lot of knockouts it’s over. There were 2044 poker players who started action on day 3, but only about 800 players were left after the day. The top 648 players in the Main Event will make money so we’re almost down to the money positions, but we’ll need to wait until day 4 before we’re into the money.
Bertrand Grospellier is the leader after day 3 of the Main Event and this was in large part due to a big hand where he knocked out Jerry Wong. Bertrand is currently sitting with 1,380,500 chips after day 3 and looks to be in fairly decent shape. There is no way to no whether or not he will be able to hold onto the chip lead as the final table closes in, but we definitely can tell you that he is playing some excellent poker. He is being very aggressive with the players on his table and he is giving nobody the opportunity to see any free cards when he is playing.
Phil Hellmuth has almost 500K chips currently at the end of the day which definitely puts him in contentions for the final table if he keeps it up. I wouldn’t have expected Hellmuth to have such a large stack, but it turns out he has been hitting some nice hands. Some of the players who didn’t have the luck that Phil did include Jason Alexander, Dutch Boyd and Greg Raymer.
No other player in the event has over 1 million chips except for the chip leaders right now, but after day 4 there is definitely going to be some big stacks as the levels continue to get bigger. There are over 70 players with at least 500K chips in the event which means we’re definitely going to see a lot of chips exchanging hands on day 4.
