Darvin Moon Leads All Players in the 2009 WSOP Main Event after Day 7

We talked about the fact that nobody has been able to hold onto the chip lead for more then one day thus far in the 2009 Main Event briefly the other day. Today I’m glad to inform everyone that Darvin Moon has managed to lead the way in the Main Event for two straight nights now. Day 7 seen a lot of players get knocked out of the Main Event and the field is now down to only 27 players.
The 27 players will sit down at three poker tables on day 8 and play until they are down to the final nine players. Some of the players I feel have a great shot at making the final table this year include Darvin Moon who is in first place with a little over 20 million chips, Phil Ivey who is in fourth place with roughly 11 million chips, Ludovic Lacay who is in fifteenth place with roughly 5 million chips and finally Antonio Esfandiari who is in twentieth place with roughly 4.5 million chips.
Some of the players who were unable to make it through day 7 of the Main Event include Joe Sebok, Tom Schneider and Dennis Phillips. With the chip counts still really close together it’s definitely anyone’s game and day 8 is definitely going to be a really exciting day for poker fans. The player who was eliminated in 28th place was Joe Ward who got his stack all-in with A/K against Jamie Robbins who had A/Q. By the turn Joe was leading the hand, but on the river a Q was flopped over and it ended Joe’s Main Event run abruptly. It’s already a terrible feeling going out right on the bubble in situations like we had today, but when you go out when you were dominating your opponent it really hurts.
