Only 64 Players Remain In WSOP Main Event after Day 6

Day 6 was one of the longest days on the Main Event thus far as the players needed to play five levels. With each level consisting of two hours, there was 10 hours of total play time today. The field started with 185 players and by the end of the day the tournament was down to only 64 players. With only 64 players left in the event there are no doubt that the players are beginning to get anxious for the final table.
Darvin Moon holds the chip lead after the sixth day of action as he is sitting with almost 10 million in chips right now. Billy Kopp is the closest player to Darvin with roughly 8.2 million in chips. The most notable player in the Main Event right now though is third place Phil Ivey who is sitting with roughly 6.3 million chips. Ivey has been increasing his stack considerably the past few days and definitely has a shot at making the final table this year in the Main Event.
Antonio Esfandiari is in sixth place after the day and is also playing some excellent poker this year. You may also remember Dennis Phillips from last year, if you do then you’ll be glad to hear that he is also still in the hunt for another final table appearance.
Out of the 100 or so players that were eliminated from the event on day 6 some of the more notable players included David Benyamine, Joe Hachem, Bertrand Grospellier, Theo Tran and J.C. Tran. After a long run in the event they didn’t quite make the cut although all of the players made money for their efforts in the event this year. Peter Eastgate is also out of the tournament now and won’t be able to repeat what he did last year although I’m sure it wasn’t expected.
