Phil Ivey & Eight Other Players Will Be Playing In the 2009 Main Event Final Table

With only nine players making the final table there needed to be 18 eliminations tonight and it actually didn’t take that long. The final table was decided by 11PM which was earlier then anyone had expected. Players didn’t seem to be playing the small game and most were getting their chips in without any hesitation. The day turned out to be owned by the big stacks as they applied consistent pressure through the use of their chip stacks.

Some of the players who weren’t so lucky on day 8 of the Main Event include Billy Kopp, Ludovic Lacay and Antonio Esfandiari which was a shame. I really like Esfandiari and I wish that he would have made the final table, but regardless of this fact the final table is still loaded with talent. The following nine players will be competing in November for their chance at winning the 2009 WSOP Main Event and the roughly $8.5 million prize pool that comes along with the first place finish and the gold WSOP bracelet.
