Day 1A & 1B Complete At the Asian Poker Tour Macau Main Event

With the World Series of Poker Main Event now on hold until November there weren’t very many events to look forward too. One of the most anticipated events this month is now well underway. The 2009 APT Macau Main Event has now started and it has turned out to be a pretty good tournament.
On Day 1A there were 133 players that made it out to the tables for the action and after a long 10 hours of action there were only 37 of them left. The leader after Day 1A is David Steicke with a little over 85K in chips. There are several other players with large stacks including Ian Frazer, Jay Kinkade and Michael Woo although they are still about 20K behind the leader David currently.
On Day 1B there were 192 players that started the day which means that the tournament had a total starting field of 325 players. Out of the 192 players starting the day on Day 1B only 51 of them made it through the day. Many of the top players of the tournament that were expected to do well have been knocked out including Chino Rheem, John Juanda, Steve Yea and Liz Lieu. JC Tran and Johnny Chan are still in the hunt for the Main Event title this year, but both of them have a lot of work to do on Day 2 if they want a chance.
The leader after Day 1B is Eugene Teh and he only took the lead at the very end of the day. Stewart Scott was the chip leader for most of the day and he is only a few thousand chips out of the lead at this point. Day 2 will see all of the remaining players hit the tables for what should be a great day of poker.
