Kristoffer Myhre New Chip Leader in APPT Macau Main Event

Kristoffer Myhre is the new chip leader in the APPT Macau Main Event after day 1b. There is still one more day 1 grouping to be played tomorrow so there is no guarantee that he will be the chip leader to start day 2, but he definitely has an excellent chance. Myhre managed to have an unpredictable day filled with a lot of very lucky hands. Myhre should have been knocked out of the tournament several times, but each time he managed to hit the board. Two hands that Kristoffer played he was up against pocket aces and he beat them both times.
To start day 1b there were 125 players which was a little bit more then they had out yesterday. I would expect tomorrow to have around 200 players show up. Despite only having a few more players on day 1b compared to day 1a the chips are definitely more spread out. Yesterday only one player made it over 100K chips, but today on day 1b there were five players to reach 100K+ chips. Myhre the current chip leader is sitting with a little bit over 183K chips.
The other four players with over 100K chips to start out day 2 include Peter Nielsen, Roel Pijpers, Darkhan Botabayev and Kyle Cheong. About 60 players made it through day 1b which is a bit under half of the starting field. One of the biggest causalities in today’s action was Chris Moneymaker who got knocked out of the tournament fairly early. Tomorrow we’ll have the final numbers on the amount of players that participated as well as the size of the prize pool. Just like the APT event this event has had a lot of locals come to play and they have helped ensure the tournament was successful.
