Massive Online Session Develops into a $600K+ Pot with Tom Dwan

The other night at Full Tilt Poker there was a massive online session played with several very well known players. The reason for the long session was due to a player named “Martonas” playing. Martonas has played at the high stakes in the past, but hasn’t been seen for a little awhile until this month. The action was spread out over multiple tables including both Holdem and Omaha games.
Some of the players that were involved in the session include Tom Dwan, Phil Ivey, Patrick Antonius, Phil Galfond, Cole South and several other players. There were some incredible pots taking place during the long night of poker and there were quite a few pots that were over $200K. The biggest pot was a $600K pot between Martonas and Tom Dwan on a heads-up table.
Tom Dwan ended up winning the $600K pot and for the long session of poker Dwan had profited over $1.3 million for his efforts. It’s hard to believe that a player can make this much playing online poker, but when the action is there you can definitely make some money. You’ll rarely see these players compete in such long online sessions, but when the times do come it’s awesome to watch.
Part of the reason why the session lasted so long was due to heavy swings in chip stacks. Martonas was very involved in the action and ended up losing around $3 million on the session. Even with losing this huge amount of money Martonas is still up on Full Tilt Poker for the week, which I find remarkable. If you’re inspiring to become an online poker player then I recommend that you watch some of the high stakes action when it’s available because you can really learn a lot from watching these games.
