2009 World Championship of Online Poker Starts Tomorrow

The 2009 World Championship of Online Poker at Poker Stars will be starting tomorrow and it has been a highly anticipated event. There have been satellite events running on PokerStars for the past several months and there will continue to be satellite events right up until the last event is played. The 2009 WCOOP is scheduled to last 17 days with a total of 45 events being played.
There are several huge events being played at this year’s WCOOP and it’s definitely an event that you don’t want to miss. There will be 14 tournaments that have a guaranteed prize pool of over $1 million. The biggest event is going to be the Main Event on September 20th which is has a guaranteed prize pool of $10 million. The buy-in for the Main Event is $5200 so it definitely won’t be a tournament that everyone will be able to play. There are lots of satellite tournaments running at Poker Stars though over the next couple weeks where you’ll have the chance to earn a seat into the Main Event.
There are going to be a lot of different poker games played in the tournaments this year at the WCOOP including Holdem, Omaha, Eight Game, HORSE, Stud, Badugi, 2-7 Triple Draw, Razz and Draw. With a bunch of different poker games being offered at this year’s WCOOP everyone will be able to compete in some of the events. Many of the best Poker Star players will be making it out for many of the events so you will potentially be playing against pro players over the next couple weeks if you’re competing in the WCOOP events.
There are 2-3 tournaments being held every day for the next 17 days starting tomorrow. All of the tournaments are being held on PokerStars and you can find the events under the WCOOP tab.
