Georgios Kapalas Takes Over Chip Lead in EPT Barcelona Main Event on Day 3

Day 3 of EPT Barcelona is now in the books and just like yesterday the players came to the table looking to play poker. The action was supposed to stop once there were 24 players left in the tournament, but during the last hand on each table there were 2 eliminations which means there will be 23 players coming back tomorrow. Matt Lapossie was the chip leader going into day 3 and he continued to work his chip stack long into the day. Matt ended up losing the chip lead on the last hand of the day, but he is still in great shape for making the final table.
Georgios Kapalas ended up taking over the chip lead on the last hand of the day when he knocked out Samer Rahman in a massive hand. Kapalas is now sitting with over 1.7 million in chips and is definitely in good shape for making the final table as long as he doesn’t make any mistakes. Both Mike McDonald and Roland de Wolfe are still in the tournament and they both have 500K+ chips at the moment.
Bertrand Grospellier is sitting in fifth place after today which is a couple spots lower then he finished on day 2, but he is still in great shape. Bertrand has a little over 800K chips and with one double up he could move himself into third place or better. The eliminations were happening really quickly again today and there weren’t many instances where there wasn’t a player all-in today.
I’m expecting the same type of aggression to be shown by the remaining players tomorrow and I don’t think it’s going to take long to crown a new EPT Barcelona Main Event Champion. The shortest stack to start tomorrow is right around 200K in chips so everyone is still fairly close to each other and anyone could still win the tournament with a bit of luck.
