John Tabatabai Knocked Out Of WSOPE Main Event on the Bubble to End Day Three
September 30, 2009
Day 3 would determine what players were going to make the money and what players were going to go home without any prize money for their efforts. The playing field needed to be dwindled down to 36 players on day 3 of the WSOPE Main Event and it took quite awhile to do so. Once the field was near the bubble the action started to run really slow and there weren’t many players willing to risk their tournament life.
John Tabatabai was the unlucky bubble finisher this year as he was knocked out in 37th place. When John was knocked out of the tournament it ended day 3 of action. Tabatabai finished this event in second place last year and he had hopes of bettering that performance, but it just didn’t work out for him. John moved all-in with pocket aces and was called by a player with pocket sevens. A seven hit the flop and it spelt the end for John as the remaining cards didn’t help him improve his pair of aces.
There are still some huge stars left in this year’s event and they will be back on day 4. Day 4 will feature the 36 players left in the event and they will play until they are down to the final table. Some of the remaining players in the tournament include Doyle Brunson, Liz Lieu, Devilfish, Daniel Negreanu and Yevgeniy Timoshenko. The chip leader after day 3 of the event is Matt Hawrilenko who had a great day of poker. Matt has been appearing on more and more tournament leaderboards this year and he has really started to impress me.
I really hope to see Brunson make the final table this year and I wouldn’t mind seeing him even win the event. It should be an interesting day 4 with many pros left with nice chip stacks. Negreanu has been playing great poker this week as well and should be a contender for the final table.
