Steve Zolotow Breezes Through Day 1B at the 2009 WSOPE Main Event

Most of you will probably know who Steve Zolotow is even though he hasn’t been on a tournament leaderboard in a very long time. Steve managed to breeze through the field on day 1B and although he didn’t take over the chip lead in the tournament he is sitting pretty with about 160K chips. Steve will start off day 2 with a nice amount of chips in front of him and I’m sure he won’t be happy with his performance unless he makes the final table in this event.

Day 1B was a much smaller day then day 1A, but that didn’t stop the players from fighting it out over the six levels of play. Only 28 players survived day 1B and they will join the 79 players that it made it through day 1A for day 2. There were some big names in the playing field on day 1B even though most of them started the tournament on day 1A. Some of the big name players that were knocked out of the WSOPE Main Event on day 1B include Jean Robert Bellande, Carlos Mortensen, JC Tran, Alec Torelli, Jennifer Harman, Joe Sebok and Howard Lederer.

Out of the 28 players that survived the day a lot of them are actually really good players which should make for an excellent day 2 of poker this year. Some of the players that survived day 1B include Barry Greenstein, David Oppenhiem, Gabe Kaplan, Scotty Nguyen, Chris Ferguson, Jani Sointula, Gus Hansen, Juha Helppi, John Juanda, Dave Ulliott, Antonio Esfandiari and Daniel Negreanu. As you can see there is an amazing list of players that survived day 1B.
