Thomas Bichon Wins WPT Merit Cyprus Classic Championship

The WPT Merit Cyprus Classic Championship is now over and Thomas Bichon has walked away as the winner of the tournament. We left off on day 5 of the event when 10 players were still left in the event. On day 5 of the tournament the 10 players in the event needed to be shrunk down to only 6. It took the players 5 hours to knock out 4 players and at the end of the day Huck Seed walked away from the poker table without any chips.

Huck Seed was looking good on day 4, but after a rough day 5 he was knocked out on the bubble and finished in 7th place. The players that started the 6 player final table on day 6 weren’t all that well known. The winner of the event which was Thomas Bichon had quite a bit of tournament experience though which I think helped him out. He has played on the final table in major events in the past so it wasn’t the first time he was playing under pressure.

Uri Keidar managed to finish the tournament in second place after starting day 6 off strongly with some big hands. He didn’t do much after taking the chip lead and just waited until he went heads-up. When they went heads-up with Bichon it only took Bichon a total of two hands to win the tournament. Fourth place finisher Rep Porter also has had tournament experience in the past and he made a strong push in the event, but fell just short. Rep is still going to leave with Cyprus with over $100K though so he has nothing to be upset about.
