Day 1 Complete At the European Poker Tour Warsaw Championship Main Event

The European Poker Tour has just landed in Warsaw, Poland this week and currently the Main Event is underway. Yesterday players started the tournament on day 1a with a field of 88 players. There weren’t that many eliminations on day 1a and about 64 of the players have made it through to day 2 which will be played tomorrow. Carter Phillips was the chip leader in the event after day 1a with almost 200K chips. Clayton Mozdzen who finished second place after day 1a only has 100K chips, so you can clearly see that Carter built himself up a nice lead over the rest of the pack.

Some of the players that busted out on day 1a include JC Alvarado, Angel Guillen and Lars Madsen. Players such as Peter Eastgate, Arnaud Mattern and Luca Pagano all participated in the tournament as well on day 1a and will be moving onto day 2. Out of the three players Luca is the only one with a sizable chip stack as he is sitting with over 100K.

Today was day 1b in the Main Event and there were 115 players that showed up to play poker. About 84 of them made it through the day in Warsaw which is more then I would have expected. The action has been starting of slow in this event, but I’m sure tomorrow for day 2 it will pick up once everyone is in the same poker room. Antony Lellouche finished the day with a little over 130K in chips which was good for first place on day 1b although he will start day 2 in second place behind Carter Phillips.

Bertrand Grospellier made it out for the event, but he finished his day on the short stack and will need to have a big improvement on day 2 if he wants to survive. Shaun Deeb, Dario Minieri, Mel Judah, Thierry Van Den Berg and Florian Langmann all made it out for the event as well and most of them made it through too day 2 except for Florian.
