Local Player Wins WSOP Circuit Horseshoe Chicago Main Event

The World Series of Poker Circuit Horseshoe Chicago Main Event was played over the weekend and there was a very nice turnout. The event seen a total of 248 poker players participate and it turned out that a local ended up winning the grand prize. Dan Livingston who plays poker regularly in Chicago managed to earn a seat into this event through a promotion at the casino.

The way Dan won his seat was through a high card promotion. The casino staff was giving away four seats every single day for two weeks and the way they gave out seats to the tournament was as followed. The casino randomly selected a poker table during the day and the players on the table would then take part in a high card draw. The player with the highest card would win the seat into the event.

Livingston who would have never played in this event if it weren’t for the promotion, not only got to experience playing in a high limit tournament, but he also won. The prize pool that Dan won for first place was just under $300K, which I’m sure, is going to be plenty for him to start a professional poker career. He already mentioned that we will be participating in the 2010 World Series of Poker in Las Vegas.

Throughout the final table Dan managed to knock out most of his opponents thru the use of aggressive play. He had a large chip lead over his opponents and that helped him bully the table with and without cards.
