Day One Complete At the 2009 World Series of Poker Main Event Final Table
November 8, 2009
Yesterday the November Nine played out the first day of the final table. The goal of the day was to knock the nine player field down to a mere two players and that’s exactly what took place. It was a very long day yesterday and the players ended up playing for about 17.5 hour’s total. By the time the day was over the two players that emerged from the November Nine were Joe Cada and Darvin Moon
As you should already know Darvin Moon had a massive chip stack going into the final table and it would have been a huge surprise to see him knocked out in anything worse then the top three. Darvin Moon started off the final table by struggling a little bit and he seen his stack dwindle. By the end of the day though, Moon had climbed back up to just about what he started the day with which was 60 million chips.
Joe Cada on the other hand had a great day at the felt. He started off a little shaky and almost was eliminated once by Phil Ivey, but Cada managed to win that hand and many more after. Cada is sitting with roughly 135 million chips and will have the distinct advantage over Darvin Moon in the heads-up match. The heads-up match will take place on Monday at 10PM so we’ll let you know how it goes sometime early on Tuesday. If you’re wondering where the rest of the players finished on the final table you can check out the final positions below.
I figured the Antoine would do well and it turned out that he finished in 3rd place. I also mentioned the other day that Cada would be a smart bet on the final table along with Moon and Ivey. If you bet some money on the final table I hope you ended up putting a sprinkle on Cada.
Antoine Saout – 3rd
Eric Buchman – 4th
Jeff Shulman – 5th
Steve Begleiter – 6th
Phil Ivey – 7th
Kevin Schaffel – 8th
James Akenhead – 9th
