Latin American Poker Tour Kicked Off This Past Weekend with a Bang

The Latin American Poker Tour is in its third season this year and over the weekend the first event of this season was played out. The event ended up having a great turnout and all of the final table participants were rewarded handsomely for their placing. There weren’t many pro poker players out for the tournament, but this allowed many up and coming poker players a shot at a major poker title.

By the time the fourth day rolled around this past Sunday there were only eight players left in the tournament, including four Canadians. By the end of the fourth day two of the four Canadians ended up battling each other heads-up to see who would win the title. Amer Sulaiman ended up coming out victorious over Sol Bergren in the heads-up battle and won the first place prize pool of almost $175K.

When the heads-up battle started Bergren actually had a small chip lead over Amer, but the chip lead was very short lived. On the last hand of the tournament Bergren was a little impatient and pushed on the flop with an open ended straight draw. Amer called with top pair and when the board dropped two duds on the turn and river it sealed the victory for Sulaiman.
