Patrik Antonius Involved In Biggest Online Poker Pot Ever Last Night

Over the past week the action on Full Tilt Poker has really been picking up. One of the reasons why the action has been picking up so much I think is simply because there aren’t that many major live poker tournaments running at this time. When there aren’t many live tournaments running a lot of the pros that play on Full Tilt Poker will end up playing long sessions over the internet.

Last night the longest session was played between Patrik Antonius and Isildur1. Antonius is a very well known pro and Isildur1 is an unknown player at this time. The other night Isildur1 took Tom Dwan for a couple million dollars at the tables and now he was trying to go up against Antonius. The two of them were playing $500/$1000 PL Omaha and for the most part they had 4-5 tables running at the same time.

With many of the pots going into six figures early on we were expecting some big pots to take place between the two players. We didn’t expect the two players to play for the biggest online poker pot all time, but that is exactly what happened. Previously the biggest online poker pot in history was $723,938 and that hand was between Tom Dwan and Di Dang. Last night the pot played between Antonius and Isildur1 managed to reach an astounding $878,958.50 which is sure to stay as the record for at least a little while.

In this hand Antonius ended up walking away with winning the hand. By the turn when the two players got the chips all-in they both had top two pair. The river brought an 8 though which is one of the cards that Antonius needed to make a straight. He ended up winning the hand with a rivered straight and I’m sure this was a horrible moment for Isildur1. The two players continued playing well into the night so who knows who will end up on top by the end of the session in terms of dollars profit, but one thing for sure is they both can say they competed in the biggest online poker pot ever.
