2010 Aussie Millions Update – Events 6-11
January 25, 2010
As everyone should already know the Aussie Millions has been underway for over a week now. We already updated you guys with who won the first five events at the Aussie Millions and today we’re going to take a look at how events six through twelve shaped up.
Event #6
Event #6 at the 2010 Aussie Millions was the $1100 H.O.R.S.E. tournament that ended up having a small playing field. There were only 91 players that entered the tournament and John Joannou emerged the victor. John took home the first place prize of $27,300 and I’m sure will be trying to improve upon those winnings in some of the remaining events.
Event #7
The seventh event this year at the Aussie Millions was the $1150 NL Holdem with Rebuys which lasted two days. There were 108 players in the tournament with many of them rebuying. Mike Watson ended up beating a field littered with great poker players and took home the grand prize of $129,920.
Event #8
Event #8 was one of the most anticipated events this year at the Aussie Millions. The $100K Challenge had a tiny playing field of 24 players, but that was expected due to the insane buy-in. Dan Shak ended up winning the event and won $1.2 million for his efforts which is the biggest poker win in his career. There were plenty of familiar faces in this event including Howard Lederer, Tony G and Phil Ivey who managed a second place finish.
Event #10
The tenth event at the Aussie Millions was the $550 PokerPro NL Holdem Shootout which only had 82 players competing for the title and first place prize money. By the end of the day Peter Vratsidis walked away the champion and earned $11,480 in prize money on his $550 investment.
Event #11
There were 63 players that competed in the $550 PokerPro PL Omaha Hi/Lo tournament and it just finished hours ago. Eugene Portlen won $9765 for finishing in first place and can also brag to everyone that he won an Aussie Millions Event.
As you probably have noticed we have skipped Event #9 for now because it’s the Main Event at the 2010 Aussie Millions. They’re currently just getting underway in the Main Event and we’ll make sure to keep you updated on all of the progress.
