Day 1B Complete At the 2010 PokerStars Caribbean Adventure Main Event

I want to start this post off by saying that the amount of players that made it out for day 1b shocked me a bit. I had figured that there would be roughly the same amount of players show up for day 1b as day 1a, but I was wrong. Another 846 poker players made it out for the second instalment of day 1 and there were many more big names. The action was fairly slow today on the tables, which was similar to how the action was played on day 1a.

It must be that even poker players need to work off all the booze and food before they get back into their normal form. The chip leader from day 1a had nothing to worry about either as none of the players on day 1b are even close to him. The chip leader from the day 1b group ended up being Annette Obrestad which is great to see. Annette should be poised for a huge year in poker and if you can take down the PCA Main Event to start the year that would be great.

Annette is going to have some really tough competition going into day 2 tomorrow though. Some of the players that managed to build up their chip stacks on day 1b include Paul Wasicka, Phil Ivey, Vanessa Rousso, Liz Lieu and JC Alvarado who are all in the top fifteen right now. If you take the leaderboard from day 1a and day 1b you end up with a list of some of the best poker players in the world right now.

It seems to me that everyone is hungry this year to get things off on the right foot and it’s going to make for an awesome day 2. Although both the day 1 groups played fairly conservative it should chance come tomorrow. The blinds will begin eating up the stacks and we’ll start seeing a lot more people shoving all-in.
