Day 4 Now Complete at the 2010 PokerStars Caribbean Adventure Main Event
January 11, 2010
With only 62 players left the chip stacks have begun to get deep and therefore eliminations are becoming less frequent. After a full day of poker the 62 player field was narrowed down to only 24 players. The remaining players will be back on day 5 to see who can make it to the final table. The goal for most of the players at this point is to try and make it to the final four. The players that manage to make it to the final four at the 2010 PCA Main Event will be rewarded no less then $1 million.
Currently each of the remaining players is guaranteed a payday of $75K which is good, but I’m sure most of the players left in the event want more then that for their efforts. Just like the other days at this event, we have managed to crown a new chip leader. Ryan D’Angelo made quick work of his opponents today and skyrocketed into the lead with just under 7.5 million chips. The closest player to Ryan at this time is John Duthie with just over 5 million chips. Third place after day four is going to ring a bell as it’s the day 1 chip leader Wayne Bentley who is sitting with just under 3 million chips.
What is a little shocking to me is how far spread out the chip counts are right now. There are currently 8 players with fewer than 1 million chips right now and another 8 players with fewer than 2 million in chips. With only 24 players left in the event I’m a bit surprised that there is such a big chip difference between most of the players. D’Angelo should definitely be sitting tight tomorrow on day 5 if he’s smart and wait for some monster hands. I suspect that Ryan has an excellent chance at finishing in the top four as long as he doesn’t make any mistakes or run into any coolers.
Some of the players that will be chasing the front three on day 5 include Barry Shulman, Jeff Madsen, Kenny Nguyen, Praz Bansi, Robert Mizrachi and James Tolbert. It’s still anyone’s game, but if I had to make a prediction I think that we’ll see Barry Shulman make a deep run on the final table if he continues playing like he has been.
