Harrison Gimbel Takes Home Title at the 2010 PCA Main Event

Well it’s been a long week of poker in the Bahamas, but it has finally come to an end. The 2010 PCA Main Event finished up today with Harrison Gimbel taking home the first place prize. Harrison was near the top of the leaderboard most of the event and he managed to hold off everyone while taking home a cash prize of over $2 million for his efforts. I honestly didn’t expect Gimbel to win the event, but that’s one of the reasons why I love poker.

Harrison is still very young and has potential to become one of the best tournament players in the world if he can keep up his success. Gimbel recently dropped out of school so that he could pursue poker full-time and I’m sure he is very happy about his decision at this point. It’s very difficult nowadays for a poker player to make it professional, but with over $2 million in prize money for Gimbel, I suspect it won’t be a problem making a career out of poker.

The two players that I thought would have a chance at winning the event ended up not coming that close on the final table. Barry Shulman managed to finish in third place which helped him earn over $1 million this week. Ryan D’Angelo tried making a deep run on the final table, but ended up finishing in fifth place. Second place finisher Ty Reiman has been lucky the entire week and it almost helped him win the title.
