Jake Cody Wins 2010 EPT Deauville Main Event

Sorry for not posting this sooner, but I was away the past couple of days and haven’t had time to make a post. As you guys already know there were only eight players left in the tournament the last time we posted. The final table had a ton of talent on it including Peter Eastgate and it was definitely a great finish to an awesome event in Deauville.

Peter Eastgate ended up being the first player knocked out of the tournament as he ended up losing with his pocket tens against only a K/9. Craig Bergeron called Eastgate’s all-in with only a K/9, but he managed to hit one of the remaining kings in the deck and knocked out Eastgate. Action ended up slowing down a bit while players began working on their table image. By the time the action was down to only three players, the players weren’t separated by much at all.

Mike McDonald, Teodor Caraba and Jake Cody were the three remaining players and it was still anyone’s game. The next big hand in the tournament was when Caraba knocked out McDonald. When Teodor won the hand he ended up having a big chip lead going into the heads-up battle against Cody. Although Jake went into the heads-up battle as the underdog he ended up building up his stack and managed to win the tournament.

By the time Teodor went all-in with his remaining chips he had an A/K, but Cody ended up having a K/K. You don’t see many hands like this in a heads-up match and it’s a shame that the event needed to end like this. The following is how the final table ended up finishing in Deauville.
