Ludovic Lacay on Top at the EPT Deauville Main Event after Day 1B

Ludovic Lacay had an amazing year in 2009 and typically after a good year most poker players have an off year, but that doesn’t seem to be the case with Lacay. Ludovic was in a battle on day 1b for first place most of the day, but by the end he ended up finishing the day in first place. The chip leader from day 1a that we talked about earlier today is still in the lead going into day 2 as Lacay has less chips then him with 185,000 chips.

As expected there were a lot more pro players that showed up for the second day of action. Most pros only like to make a late entrance which is why I think they always try and play in the last day 1 group. Some of the players that made it out on day 1b include Luca Pagano, Peter Eastgate, Dario Minieri, Alex Kravchenko, Bertrand Grospellier, Freddy Deeb, Greg Raymer, Vicky Coren and Jean-Robert Bellande.

All of the players listed above made it through the action on day 1b and will be back to play tomorrow. There are 405 players left in the tournament out of the 768 that started so there is still a long way to go. With so many good poker players still in the mix it’ll be interesting to see how things shape up in Deauville. This Main Event easily beat last year’s Main Event in Deauville in terms of attendance and it’s good to see lots of people playing in these tournaments.

A few of the players that managed to reach the top of the leaderboard on day 1b with Ludovic Lacay include Luca Pagano with 182,000 chips, Catherine Hong with 147,000 chips, Peter Eastgate with 125,000 chips and Dario Minieri with 98,000 chips. As you can tell the chips are pretty evenly spread out amongst the top of the leaderboard. With the blinds on the way up I expect the action to be very fast paced tomorrow with plenty of knock-outs.
