Robert Cezarescu Leads EPT Deauville Main Event after Day 1A

The European Poker Tour is making its stop in Deauville this week and the Main Event just started yesterday. There weren’t too many professional poker players as most of them are playing in the Aussie Millions right now, but there was still a nice turnout for the event. On day 1a there were 339 players that showed up to play poker which means that there will likely be more players this year then last year which is a good sign.

There were quite a few eliminations yesterday on day 1a in Deauville although it did take a little while for the action to begin picking up. The chip leader at the end of the day was Robert Cezarescu with 216,900 chips which puts him comfortably above most of the players left in the tournament. There are several players that are close too Robert after day 1a though, so he is far from being safe on day 2.

Just like every other poker tournament in the world PokerStars was well represented at the tables. Some of the PokerStars Pros at the tables on day 1a include Katja Thater, Vlad Zguba and Arnaud Mattern. Day 2 should definitely bring out some more big names, but we’ll just have to see what happens. Day 2 is currently being played right now and we’ll make sure that we report on what happens later on today once the action stops.

The Aussie Millions is also well underway right now and they’re on the sixth event. If you’re wondering what’s happened in the first few events here is a quick update of the finished events.

Event #5 - $1650 NL Holdem with Bounties – Jonathon Karamalikis wins $122,700
