Wayne Bentley Leads 2010 PCA Main Event

With the Christmas Holidays and New Year celebrations over now it’s time to get back to business for poker players around the world. This year is expected to be a huge year for poker and we want to make sure you guys are covered on all the major news that is going on around the poker world. The first tournament that we’re going to take a look at this year is the 2010 PokerStars Caribbean Adventure Main Event which just got underway today.

There were 669 players that made it out to the Caribbean for day 1a of the event and we expect about the same turnout on day 1b. Today was a pretty slow day on the felt with only about a couple hundred players being knocked out after hours of play. By the end of the day there were roughly 430 players left in the tournament which will all move onto day 2. The chip leader at the end of the day was Wayne Bentley who is sitting with a considerable lead right now.

Several top pro players made it out for the event to support PokerStars including Barry Greenstein, Daniel Negreanu and Dennis Phillips. All three of these players are sitting at the top of the leaderboard right now and it should be interesting to see if any of them can make the final table. Lots of other PokerStars Pro Players made it out for the event including Ivan Demidov, Marcel Luske, Florian Langmann and quite a few others.

There were some early eliminations in the tournament and when it’s the first live tournament of the year you never want to go out early. Chris Moneymaker, Jason Mercier and JC Tran were a few of the players that were knocked out on day 1a. I’m sure that isn’t the start they wanted for 2010, but we all know that we’ll see lots more from all three players this year.
