Anton Wigg Wins First Career EPT Title at Copenhagen Main Event

We haven’t updated you on how the EPT Copenhagen Main Event was moving along since day 2, but now the event is over and a winner has been crowned the champion. Anton Wigg who is a Swedish born poker player took down his first ever EPT title after outlasting the other 422 players in the tournament. Anton is only 22 years old and definitely has a bright future in front of him if he can play his cards right.

Today nine players battled it out on the felt for hours before Anton eventually won. The heads-up battle between Wigg and second place finisher Francesco de Vivo was incredible and lasted about four hours. Anton had been down to a huge underdog in the heads-up battle, but managed to come back from an over 10:1 chip deficit to take down the title. He was hitting a lot of big hands, but most of the time they weren’t holding up for him which is why it took him so long to win the tournament.

The rest of the final table were also unknown players to the majority of the poker world, but they definitely deserve their moment of praise. The field was stacked in Copenhagen and to make it to the final table each of these players needed to battle there way through the pros. It was an exciting week in Copenhagen and a few of the players are leaving with a lot more cash then they came with.
