Canadian Leads Way at EPT Copenhagen Main Event after Day 1A

Once the Aussie Millions finished up we’ve been waiting patiently for some more live poker events to take place. Over the next few days we’ll be able to watch many of the world’s best players take part in the EPT Copenhagen Main Event. With the first day of action under our belt there is no doubt that the chips are flying in Copenhagen. Today was day 1a and there were 191 players that made it out to play. The tournament has a cap of 500 players so I definitely think they’ll be close to reaching that number tomorrow when the rest of the field comes out to play.

Out of the 191 players that played day 1a only 113 of them remain due to the aggressive pace that most players played at today. Once thing I love about the Copenhagen Main Event is that it brings out tons of aggressive players from the region and the action is non-stop the entire week. The current leader in the event is a Canadian by the name of Andrew Pantling who is sitting with a little over 150K chips. Nobody would have expected him to be the leader after day 1a, but that’s why poker is such an amazing game.

There were a nice mix of professional players out on the tables today and several of them will be back in a couple days for day 2 action. Annette Obrestad, Arnaud Mattern and Dario Minieri will all be back on day 2 and they’re all currently about middle of the pack which is right where you want to be at this point in the event since you won’t draw in much attention from the other players. There will be plenty more pros showing up for day 1b action tomorrow so make sure you come back to the blog to find out exactly who made it through to day 2.
