Day Two Complete at the 2010 NAPT Venetian Main Event

The 2010 NAPT Venetian Main Event is currently underway and the first two days of the tournament are over, with the third day in the event just about over as well. The remaining players in the tournament just got back from a break and will be wrapping up day three shortly although we’ll update you on all of the action tomorrow after day four is over. Today we’re going to take a look at the first two days of the 2010 NAPT Venetian Main Event.

There were 872 players in the event which is pretty big for this type of tournament, but it seems to be popular amongst the pros and that helps bring in other players. On the first day of action there were some big names hitting the rail including the always questionable Phil Hellmuth, David Benyamine, Justin Bonomo and Shaun Deeb. Chris Moneymaker was actually right at the top of the leaderboard after day one, but the big question is whether or not he can maintain his pace.

On day two there were 475 players left in the tournament and by the end of the day there were roughly 1/3rd of the starting field left. It was a busy day with tons of chips flying around the tables due to the deep stack format that this event is using. The deep stack format definitely works in the favour of players that like to sit since they’ll have more money to cover their blinds while they wait for hands. Now that the blinds are up many players are loosening up and it shouldn’t be long until we’re watching the final table.

There are still lots of great players in contentions at this year’s Venetian Main Event and I’m sure that there will be some familiar faces on the final table. There are still a couple days left before the final table, but we’ll make sure we keep you updated throughout the week.
